Aerial view of the atoll of Mururoa. This photo was taken in 1989 at a time when the Center of Nuclear Experimentation of the Pacific was in full activity. The base residential area is visible in the foreground of the photo. With work beginning in 1996, all military and civilian installations have been completely dismantled, except for the airport runway.
